Oaks Lane may be just the other side of the border in Shirley South, but it is enjoyed just as much by Shirley North residents for quiet walks.
At the moment, anywhere that provides a little scenic route is going to be very popular. There’s been some confusion among residents as to whether cycling is permitted. Signs seem to suggest it isn’t, yet it’s often been a popular place for bikes.
We have checked with the council and the signs saying ‘no cycling’ are based on out-dated bylaws. Cycling is permitted. As such, the signs will soon be removed.
This won’t be the answer everyone is looking for. But at least it clears up the confusion.
