It was a pleasure to join this afternoon's Croydon Prayer Walk that travelled from Marks & Spencer in North End, down Church Walk towards the Minster. We stopped in areas where young people have come to harm, sometimes fatally. There is a real commitment to use prayer to raise Croydon up and keep our young people safe.
We heard from a number of church leaders who led us in prayer. We also heard from the Executive Mayor of Croydon Jason Perry and Chief Superintendent Andy Brittain, Croydon's Borough Commander who are keen to work together with faith and community leaders to help our young people safe.
On a personal note, I was pleased to bump into a few people that I have not seen for a while, including someone from the church at which I became a Christian, and who gave me a palm cross. I had not been able to get to church this morning (Palm Sunday) so I was delighted to be able to bring one home after all.
