In conjunction with Purley Rotary and the PWRA, I held a meeting recently with the Croydon trees officer, Helen Lomasney. She's found some funding and is working on a plan to find suitable homes for no less than 360 trees around the South of the Borough, and we all need YOUR help in deciding where to put them.
About 300 of these trees should go in existing tree pits in the pavement and the remaining 60 would be planted in existing park and woodland areas such as Purley Rotary Field.
Helen is inviting all residents to send details of existing dead trees or empty/filled-in tree pits to her; she'll compile a list and then start planting when the funding is available and the timing is right.
Please send all details of all suitable tree locations to her at [email protected] , and copy [email protected] so that I can track progress.
Thank you from Cllr Simon Brew
