This is Croydon - The London Borough of Culture launches this weekend with a celebration of hope. Andy Stranack (Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture) commented:-
"At my birth my Mum and Dad were told I would not live for 24 hours......but hope won.
At the age of five I was told I would never walk.....but hope won.
At 43 I was diagnosed with cancer......but hope won.
At 53 I'm helping to run Croydon and many feel hopeless.
