Please be advised that local contact tracing is live in Croydon from today. Contact tracing is a fundamental part of outbreak control as the timely identification of cases and their contacts is vital to preventing the spread of infection.
Across the country, local authorities have set up local tracing partnerships with the NHS Test and Trace service to increase follow up of cases and completion rates and to enable boroughs to offer more holistic support to residents which improves the chance of compliance with self-isolation.
Further information about the service is below:
Croydon Test and Trace
If the NHS Test and Trace team is unable to contact a resident within 24 hours, their case will be passed to the local Croydon Council Tracing team who will attempt to contact them. A letter will be sent to their residence if the council is unable to contact them within 24 hours.
The Council service will ask about:
- The resident’s name, date of birth and postcode
- If they live with other people
- Any places they have been recently, such as a workplace or school
- Names and contact details of any people they were in close contact with in the 48 hours before symptoms started
The Council service will not ask about:
- Bank details or payments.
- Details of any other accounts, such as social media.
- Setting up a password or PIN number over the phone.
- Calling a premium rate number, such as those starting 09 or 087.
