Eagle-eyed residents will have spotted new signposts and gateway markers popping up around Kenley over the past few weeks and may have wondered why these have been put up.
They are part of the Connecting Kenley project which I’ve outlined in several other posts. All of the finger posts have now been installed, with more wayfinding disks scheduled to be installed the week commencing 15th April. You may have also seen the beautiful new Kenley map at the train station.
We’re due to see other projects finalised very soon, including the new ‘pocket park’ outside the parade of shops at Old Lodge Lane and new mural at the Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church Community Hub. The artwork for the mural is just about completed with some finishing touches any day now.
Planting at the Old Lodge Lane Parade Pocket Park will commence in the next two weeks. In June, council officers will arrange an assisted walk-through of the park for Kenley residents who are visually impaired or learning disabled/ have accessibility needs.
The Connecting Kenley Programme is a series of projects intended to improve pedestrian road safety, transport, air quality, support spaces and the appearance of streets in Kenley.
The next meeting of the Connecting Kenley Advisory Group will be on 22nd April and will focus on the pedestrian safety aspects of the project.
