On Saturday we held another Community Litter Pick Session in New Addington, it was lovely to see the community coming together once again to get involved and help improve their local area.
It is of course very sad that the Labour led council is failing local communities like this in New Addington and others across Croydon, inadequate waste collection, and unchecked Fly-tipping is blighting our town.
Once again, a local children’s playground was covered in discarded litter, and unkept grass. Please see some of the before and after photos showing the work of the fantastic volunteers who gave up some of their free time on a Saturday to help improve the image of their local community.
I have reported a number of fly-tipping issues in the local area, one in particular was very bad, the photograph does not do this justice, the sheer level of this fly-tipping is not acceptable, and I have asked officers to investigate, as this site looks as if it has been fly-tipped on for a number of years.
It was wonderful to see again parents bringing their young children to get involved, we were pleased to issue a number of Litter Champion Certificates to all the children who got involved. we hope this will help instill the sense of community pride.
Thank you to all those who came and got involved, our next Litter Pick Session will take place on Saturday 14th August 2021 at Norbury Park, hopefully see you then!
