It was a pleasure to participate earlier today in the annual Christmas procession from Tesco to Christchurch Purley. It was headed by a real donkey just like the Christmas story, and there were even some sheep to add to the atmosphere.
The procession stopped occasionally for a reading and some carols, and at Christchurch a crib was waiting, where Mary was duly visited by the three kings who had been following a star. The vicar Doug McHardie led a short service at the end, and we were then kindly invited to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies (kindly provided by Tesco).
It was a lovely festive occasion which really got the Christmas season off to a flying start. Many thanks for Doug and the team for organising everything so well.
