I was delighted to join a Christmas procession yesterday from Tesco Purley to Christchurch, which was led by a real donkey!
We started at Tesco with some readings and carol-singing and then processed to the SE Cancer Help Centre's christmas tree outside Sainsburys where we heard more readings and carols, and the procession ended at Christchurch Purley. Rev Doug McHardie then led some prayers and we joined in more carols while the Christmas story was enacted in a specially-built crib in the car park.
Nearly 100 people joined in the event despite the bitter weather and we also enjoyed Christchurch's hospitality with hot drinks, mince pies and mulled wine, so we were all grateful to the church for organising such a successful event.
