Numerous residents have contacted me about the loss of trees, particularly in Purley Oaks Road, Sanderstead Hill where we had beautiful cherry trees. Several more were cut down over last week and residents are saddened that the pits are being filled with tarmac and not trees. I know the trees and woodlands officer is trying desperately to secure funding to replace the trees but times are hard since the council went bankrupt. I am passing information to the officer on all the tree pits so hopefully when the time comes they can be replaced. Some of these trees have come to their natural end of life and others are diseased so have to be removed for safety reasons.
