I have recently learnt that Croydon had an estimated 9000 properties which were registered for assisted bin collections, the average for a borough is about 1500-2000, this puts unnecessary pressure on the waste and recycling collection crews, as they are expected to collect the bin from up a driveway, and return it, when normal collections we are expected to make sure the bin is near the roadside for collection.
I instructed officers and Veolia to do a review of these names, and I am happy to report the number is now near the 2000 mark, this is much closer inline to what it should be for a borough of this size.
If any person feels they should be on the assisted bin collection list and they are not, please contact the council, and they will add them back on as soon as possible.
