Shadow Cabinet Member for Safer Croydon and Communities Cllr. Andy Stranack has had another busy week meeting key community leaders in Croydon. Andy has visited the Legacy Youth Zone and Raymond Bascombe from Ballers Football Club in Crystal Palace. Andy was also part of a Conservative team that took part in the Croydon BME Forum Black History Month Quiz and had time for a coffee with Elizabeth Ash from the Croydon Communities Consortium.
Andy commented
"I am really enjoying my new role, it is inspirational to visit and spend time with people who are so passionate about making Croydon a great place to live. The facilities at the Legacy Youth Zone are breathtaking, but more importantly the staff and volunteers who work at the Zone are passionate about developing positive relationships with the young people who come to the venue.
Likewise it was fascinating to meet with Raymond from Ballers Football Club and learn about how they have adapted their business plan to work in the new COVID19 environment. Finally, I really enjoyed myself at the BME Forum Quiz but quickly realised that I have a lot to learn about black history.
With the Council in clear financial difficulty it is going to become more important for us to work in true partnership with community organisations and inspirational community leaders to build a brighter Croydon in the future."
