Last Saturday evening Cllr. Andy Stranack (Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture) attended the Thai Pongal Celebrations at the Braithwaite Hall. Andy commented:
" It was great to attend this colourful and artistic event that celebrates harvest time in the Tamil culture. I was pleased to join the Mayor alongside Councillor friends from across the political spectrum. It is one of the joys of being Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture that I get invited to such a variety of events that celebrate the rich and diverse cultures that make up Croydon. From April this year we will have an excellent opportunity to shine a spotlight and celebrate the festivals and events that are important to local people as Croydon becomes the London Borough of Culture."
