A few years ago, the Council started planting lots of trees in the North & Centre of the borough, but the South was strangely omitted from the calculations, despite the large number of trees being cut down every month as a result of the reckless approval of so many entirely inappropriate planning applications.
Following a long campaign by many local Councillors in the South, I'm delighted that officers have now secured a grant to plant nearly 500 new trees in the South, both in street pits and in our parks across the South.
Many suitable sites have already been earmarked, but if you're aware of any particular sites or street pits that would benefit from trees being planted there, please get in touch with your local Councillor!
