100 days have passed since Croydon became a Conservative Council, with Jason Perry as Mayor. We are so proud of the progress that our Administration has made in such a short space of time, including:
-Starting to fix the Council's finances
The finances of the Council will take a long time to fix, with some difficult decisions on the way. But we must act if we are to return the Council to more stable finances.
-Reforming planning
The new Council has voted to remove Labour's Design Guide ('SPD2') which will help to ensure that future developments are more appropriate.
-Fixing Council Housing
We have adopted the Residents' Charter and will be further consulting with Council Tenants on how we can best support them.
-Re-opening Purley Pool
We have commissioned a report into the various options available for the refurbishment and re-opening of Purley Pool. It will be funded from CIL, a pot of money that developers pay into whenever they build large developments in the Borough.
-Regenerating our Town Centre
Jason Perry has been meeting with Westfield and with Croydon BID to bring forward a new regeneration scheme for the Town Centre. The Council will also be bidding for nearly £20 MILLION in Levelling Up funds - which the previous Labour Council never bothered to apply for!
-Cleaning up Croydon
We are restoring the Graffiti Removal Team and getting the grass cut in our parks once again. You can now also use the LoveCleanStreets app (available for iPhone and Android) to report graffiti, which wasn't previously possible.
