The result of last week's Referendum in Croydon was truly outstanding. Over 80% of residents voted for Croydon to have a Directly Elected Mayor, who will be accountable to all residents.
I have received a number of requests from residents about volunteering to do that which the Council no longer can or will because of their cash-strapped situation.
I'm interested to know what your views are.
On Sunday I attended the HOME Residents' Association AGM on Outram Road. It was great to see everyone in the garden, eat some amazing home-made cakes, and enjoy a glass or two of summery drinks.
This RA is a great boon to the area, creating a real sense of local community.
If you weren’t able to attend Croydon’s Cabinet meeting held last night, then fear not! Your Conservative Councillors were holding the Failing Labour Council to account – as we will keep doing.
Cllr. Jeet Bains, the Conservative Shadow Cabinet Member for Culture and Regeneration in the London Borough of Croydon, took the Labour-run council to task over their huge waste of taxpayers’ money on Fairfield Halls.
Cllr. Bains asked Labour’s Cllr. Lewis to own up to his mistakes:

We have submitted our response to the Croydon Council consultation on Libraries. Labour has bankrupted Croydon. Now they ask our children and elderly to pay the price by cutting their access to libraries.
