End the trial Streatham Wells LTN now!
We the undersigned call upon Lambeth Council to withdraw the trial Streatham Wells low traffic neighbourhood (LTN), implemented on 23rd October 2023, for the following reasons:
- Excessive congestion and gridlock on its three boundary roads;
- Undermining TfL’s duty to provide a reliable bus service through Streatham on the A23;
- Emergency services’ inability to get through gridlocked traffic;
- Dangerous levels of pollution monitored on boundary roads caused by displaced traffic;
- Safety issues for pedestrians on quiet non-through roads, particularly at night;
- Many local businesses on Streatham High Road and beyond suffering from reduced trade.
Only Lambeth Council can scrap this trial scheme. Four months into this trial, there has been no evidence of “evaporating traffic”. It’s time for Lambeth Council to withdraw the trial LTN now and, instead, listen to local residents.
