Cllr  Dudley Mead

Dudley has been a Councillor since 1980. He is a chartered Certified Accountant and has held many responsibilities, including being Mayor in 1989/90. He is currently opposition member for Housing and joint deputy leader. Married to Margaret, who is an elected member for Heathfield, he has two grown up children and three grandchildren. He lives in the ward and in Croydon for almost all his adult life, having gone to school in the borough. He has many interests including golf and music. He is on the board of Fairfield Halls. He is also on the Court of the Whitgift Foundation and is chairman of their finance committee. In the ward he deals with planning matters and housing issues and is a committee member of the Selsdon Residents’ Association.

Cllr  Phil Thomas

Phil is married to Jill and teaches at a large comprehensive school in Surrey. He has lived in Selsdon for 20 years and has been a Croydon Councillor for 12 years. In his time as a Councillor, Phil has been Conservative spokesman for Leisure Services and now serves, since 2006, as Cabinet Member for Environmental and Street Services. He is very keen on developing activities for young people in the evenings and school holidays. As a teacher he has, over the years, been able to make a valuable contribution to a number of schools in the borough by serving as a Governor, including Selsdon High and Haling Manor (now Harris Purley). Phil’s interests include travel, recycling and following Manchester United.
