Cllr  Margaret Bird

Margaret has lived in Coulsdon East for over 35 years. Her 3 children were educated at Coulsdon East Schools. She was a Compliance Manager for the Conservative Party until 2010, has been Acting Chair, Deputy Chair and Treasurer of the Conservative Women’s Organisation. She is an Academy Councillor at Oasis Academy Byron and on the management committee of the Saffron Valley Federation, has been Vice Chair at Davidson Primary, Chair of Governors at Applegarth Academy, a Governor at Rowdown Primary and Chair of Governors at Purley Nursery School. Margaret successfully fought for a pedestrian crossing near her granddaughter’s school, Smitham Primary, and for a pushchair friendly crossing outside Coulsdon Post Office. She was an Independent Review member of School Admissions & Exclusions panels for Croydon schools for over 11 years and is particularly passionate about every child’s right to receive an outstanding education. She was a founder member of the group who campaigned to successfully keep the Bowling Green in Coulsdon Memorial Park open by using volunteers and has founded the Christmas Lights in Old Coulsdon (CLOCfg) group to raise funds for Christmas Lights on Tudor Parade Old Coulsdon. On Croydon Council Margaret serves on the Licensing Committee, is Deputy to Yvette Hopley the Shadow Cabinet member for Health and Adult Social Care , a member of the Health & Wellbeing Board and is a reserve member on the Scrutiny Panel for Children Young People and Learners . Margaret is Co-Chair of the Coulsdon East and Coulsdon West Safer Neighbourhood Ward panel.

 

 

Cllr  James Thompson

James grew up and was educated in Coulsdon East. He is now a London based Project Manager, having previously worked abroad for a leading financial company. He is Chair of Croydon Conservative Future, the under 30s wing of the party and is passionate about wanting to engage with young people to get them involved in politics. James is committed to ensuring Coulsdon East develops in the right way, with adequate services and provisions for new and existing residents. He wants to work with an open and honest breed of politics and to build on the great community spirit engendered by the various Friends’ Groups that are already doing such excellent work in the Ward.

 

 

Cllr  Chris Wright

Chris Wright has lived in Old Coulsdon for 40 years and has been a Coulsdon East Councillor since 1990. He is married with 3 children all of whom were educated at state schools in Old Coulsdon. Chris has held a number of responsibilities and has been Chairman of the Planning Committee for the past 2 years. He has a passionate belief in preserving the local environment and the character of Coulsdon East. and is a member of many local conservation societies. For the past 4 years Chris has chaired Croydon's Public Transport Panel and is very keen to maintain and improve public transport facilities. He is also a Governor of Coulsdon College and the Oasis Academy Coulsdon and campaigns for better facilities for young people.
