We are writing to let you know about a deeply controversial development that the Council granted on Thursday evening – one that will affect you and your quality of life.
Many of you will be aware that an application was submitted to the Council to add a whole new storey of flats to Thanet House, on Coombe Road. In total seven one bed flats will be added onto the top of the building, causing untold misery during construction for the many locals already living in the building.

Fairfield Conservative Councillor Vidhi Mohan vehemently opposed it and in person asked the Planning Committee to do the same. Croydon Council is currently controlled by the Labour Party. They therefore have the majority vote on all committees, including the Planning Committee. The Conservative members of that committee voted with Cllr Mohan to reject this inappropriate development. The Labour members of the committee voted it through. That’s the only reason why this development is proceeding.
We are appalled at the way Labour have ridden roughshod over the views of local residents. The only way to stop inappropriate applications like this is the vote Conservative in May 2018.
