We are writing to let you know about a deeply controversial planning application that Croydon Council’s own development company is proposing to build near to you.
Croydon’s Labour-run Council set up the ‘Brick by Brick’ development company to increase housing provision in the borough. Whilst we believe we need more housing, we are vehemently opposed to it in inappropriate locations that would be of detriment to our environment or the quality of life for those living in our town.
Recently an application was submitted by Brick by Brick to erect a three storey building which will contain eight one bedroom flats with accommodation in the roof space and the erection of a two storey 3 bedroom house. This development will be built on some of the limited precious green space we have in the town centre – at the junction of Coombe Road and Edridge Road, right next to Ruskin House.
Fairfield Conservative Councillor Helen Pollard has referred this item to the Planning Committee and requested that it be refused. But there’s a catch.
Croydon Council is currently controlled by the Labour Party. They therefore have the majority vote on all committees, including the Planning Committee. They created this Brick By Brick Development company. For us to defeat this, we need your help to demonstrate the immense strength of feeling against the development.
If you agree with us that we must protect our green spaces, and that this huge development is inappropriate for this site, then email your objection to email@example.com and copy us in using firstname.lastname@example.org. Only if we all oppose this will we have any hope of our Labour Council listening and rejecting it.
If we can help with anything else locally, please contact us by emailing Fairfield@CroydonConservatives.com.
