Freedom of Information requests by the Press Association reveal that fly-tipping is on the rise across the UK but reveals the shocking news that the borough of Croydon is the 7th worst place in the entire country for increases in fly tipping.
Croydon council recorded a total of 18,558 instances of fly-tipping over the past twelve months - up from 15,108 incidents between 2013 and 2014 and 11,149 the year before.
Before the local election of 2014 the Labour Party in Croydon insisted that the fly tipping in Croydon was all the fault of the then-Conservative council and promised that, if elected, they would clean it up. Instead they have presided over over one of the worst performances in the country.
Shadow cabinet member for streets and environment, Cllr Phil Thomas, says "Labour is all spin on the issue of fly tipping. Residents say that the fly tipping epidemic has got worse under Labour and printing a few T-shirts with their 'don't mess with Croydon' slogan is not helping. Labour needs to drop the spin and sort this mess out".
The mess in the photo was seen on Thurs 3rd September off Tedder Road on Monks Hill. Apparently residents have been reporting it for weeks but the pile has just got bigger and bigger.
